Introducing Pippa!

Hi all...sorry it's been a while, but I realized I hadn't introduced everyone to our new addition to the family. It is our Lab puppy Pippa. She is coming up to 7 months and she is a delight. Dog obedience is going well, she is in her second session and will be working toward her Companion certificate upon completion of this session. We have had alot of fun with her. We put our beloved Shadow of nearly 12 years down the end of February, and seriously debated if we were going to be a dogless...and we couldn't do it. We looked around and spoke to different vets and decided to go out of state to get our little sweetie. She is really smart. She likes her walks and loves the water, but not so much our pool...it is too deep too fast. She even vacationed with us in Holland and hung out at our friends place and loved jumping waves at the Holland State Park I wanted to upload a picture but the ipad isn't letting me even though I have one as our screen saver. Where is my friend Bethany when I need her? (Hello Bethany in NC...we are praying for you!!) I will keep trying! Harvest is going well...these rainy days are busy too with clean up, fix up, and prep for the next day we run. Well, that is all for now, I'll try to be better on the updates...and as always...be blessed!!!

The new set up for the blog on my computer is not recognizing paragraph breaks and such, so forgive my solid block...but yeah for updates!!! :) Angie

Calhoun County Fair 2012 and Summer Time fun!

Hi all...well maybe this blog might actually let me post something! So here's hoping! Summer is coming to an end quickly. In July we had a fabulous graduation party for Katie...what a blessing it was to have all the many friends and family join us for the event. The Calhoun County fair has come and gone. This year was the first year only one project was taken to the fair, a steer named Emmett. He was a pretty nice steer and we thought he may do well. Katie has always had a dream in the back of her mind that she'd like to do well in the homegrown class for her grandpa. Well...not only did she do well this year...She WON Grand Champion homegrown with Mr. Emmett. We were floored and excited. In the regular market classes she sat second behind the overall Reserve Champion steer, so that too was exciting. Katie also ended up 6th overall in showmanship. Of course it made it harder to see him go...but you always have to keep your head about what he is raised for and his purpose in life. Katie also competed in the Calhoun County Fair Queen program and was honored to represent the fair as the second runner-up. She again was thrilled. Erik had fun at the fair even though he aged out of 4-H. He helped extensively build track and areas for the different events that took place in front of the grand stand. He also pulled semi and ended up 7th, attempted to have a truck in the mud bog, but it didn't stay running, and had a truck in the demo derby and ended up 2nd. The fuel pump cracked, otherwise I think he might have done even better. So that is an update with us. Katie starts College next Monday!!! If you are reading this I wish you well...and as always...be blessed! ~

A New Year...

As promised I am updating my blog. The last official blog I had written was after the fair, but for some odd reason it wouldn't post to my page. So I just went on with our life and as I was checking in with the other blogs I read, I thought I'd try it out again and I was back in business so here goes nothing.

Wow...the fall of 2011. It was a whirlwhind. Harvest went well...a few glitches with an employee leaving us, but it went safe, abundant and done a few weeks before Christmas.

Also this fall, as Katie began her senior year and also dual enrolled at KCC, Erik purchased a new house and moved in around the first of November. It was a bittersweet moment...to think the little man (ha ha ha) who layed his head here every night now is in a different place. But if you saw it...you'd be amazed. It is so stinkin cute. We had a good friend paint most all the rooms and Erik put his finishing touches with his antiques and treasures it is pretty sweet.

Erik hosted not only our Christmas/Birthday celebration, but New Years Eve. as well. We are so stinkin proud of him!!

Katie is going strong now in her second semester of KCC. She has all work done in her senior year but math which she does daily. For years Katie has talked of being a nurse, but after job shadowing at the hospital she found great respect and interest of sonography/ultrasound and is now looking to pursure a career in that direction.

Doug and I were able to sneak off to Palm Springs, California the first week of February...we had a great time.

We've since butchered and my brother Don is expected up here in the next few days to help with the cutting and we will be filling up the freezer with fresh beef...always a fun family bonding time.

That is all for now...I do hope this finds you all in good health...and as always...

Be blessed!!!

Ah August

The crispness in the air, the cooler nights, the 4-H preparations. That is right...in just a few short days we will be moving down to the fairgrounds for our week long adventure.
Katie is showing a miniature horse again this year that a dear couple has allowed her to use. The horses name is Sally...Katie did show her last year as well.
The kids also have their steers. Crazy to think this will be the last year two steers are going from here to the fair. This is Erik's last year he is eligible for 4-H, where has the time gone? The kids have gone and made contact with their buyers, so hopefully they will end the week on a good note. The steers themselves are probably considered pretty average, but we have a crop of very nice ones for Katie next year.
Also going from our farm is a Combine ready for the Derby on Thursday. A second one is here that a friend of Erik's is working on...not sure the status on that...we'll see if it makes it to the fair.
On August 7 was Don and Sue's anniversary. They live in Greenville, SC. We don't see them nearly enough...but I wish them the best...it was their 29th anniversary! (my brother and sister-in-law)
August 14 is my parents anniversary...this year they will be celebrating their 58th...seems like we just had the pig roast for their 50th!
The kids are both in the King and Queen contest at the fair this year. They are really busy with practices for that...they seem to be having fun.

Well you are officially updated for now...I wish you all well...and as always...

Be Blessed!

Dog Days of Summer...

Hi All...I'm officially back. We've since gotten a new computer so I hope I'm able to bring you all up to date since I've last written.

So remember how we were doing a remodel, building a bin and a new shop/barn? Well...the projects continue. The bin has been erected, but now we need to wire and connect it to the existing bin configuration.

The shop/barn...is coming along...we decided it would look sweet with some blocks in the front where you would enter the office. Well, everything went up. All in one day in fact. We even got advise and help from the famous brick mason (my dad). How disappointed we were though to see the next day some of the block didn't match correctly...only on one side. That wasn't going to be good, so down came only half the wall. Well, to shorten the story, we found more blocks...we thought we were good to go...layed them up and again incorrect...so, the third time was the charm! :)

The house...Wow...what a project this has been. We are getting all new cupboards. They are sweet, quartersawn oak. We took out the pantry and that has opened up our kitchen tremendously. The wall that separated the kitchen and living room has too been changed. It now features two arched walk through openings with a arched half wall. The cupboards are now in, and granite installed. We are now waiting for electrical and other minor finishing touches and I can start putting things back in the cupboards! Yeah! My Brother Gary has been doing all the work after he works all day at his other job. It has been a little slow going...but I wouldn't trade his craftsmanship for any other!!!

Now for the other updates...we certainly have been on the run...not that we went anywhere on a vacay...just life close to home. We've been to alot of Open Houses this summer so far...graduation and anniversary.

Crops all got in timely and in spite of needed rain look pretty good.

The 4-H steers are fat and happy. It is weird to think this is Erik's last year he is eligible to take an animal to the fair as a 4'Her. He started when he was 7 1/2. They used to let kids take projects the year they turned 8. That year he only baked cookies, he got his first blue ribbon.

We sycronized (sp) the cattle at my dad's and AI'd them all. We are hoping we won't see any showing heat in the next few days which means they all took.

Doug, Katie and myself have been playing softball for the co-ed teams at church. It was sooooo hot last week but it was fun. Katie plays on the "kids" team...those kids are good!

Katie went to SSI (Student Statesman Institute) the end of June. She actually celebrated her 17th birthday there. The first time attending (as she was) you are deemed a member of the House of Representatives. the kids write bills and debate them on the floor of the State Capital. She had a great time and said she would definitely go again!

Be jealous everyone...but I went to a U2 concert with a friend. All I can say is Wow! I think I can hear again...I SAID I THINK I CAN HEAR AGAIN! I truly had a good time with my friend Amy and people watching was the bomb!! :)

Katie left yesterday for Indiana Wesleyan University for an overnight to explore the campus a little better. She drove down by herself and will be back this evening.

Erik is hard at work on the farm and is trying to pull enough trucks together so there is another pick-up derby at the fair. This year we have sad news...the Queen Bee has made her last hurrah. I am not going to been in the Combine Derby this year. Erik has one Combine for Branch County and if it survives, he will bring it to Calhoun.

So I believe you are up to speed with life!

Have a good day all...and be blessed!

April Showers...

This was written April 30, but for some reason didn't post...so here is is...

That could be an understatement along with cold, snow, and freezing temperatures. April was an interesting month to say the least!!

Well as I ended March, Erik was off to have his wisdom teeth extracted. Well he did and all was well. I do recall at one point when the pain meds were nearly gone and the prescription hadn't kicked in him saying..."Why did you make me do this?" Oh the joys of being a mom! We got a call no more than 10 minutes later from the Dr., making sure the patient was doing ok. (He does that will all his patients when he takes out all four. He asked me if I remember him calling when I had mine out...Uh...that would be no...I was probably worse than Erik...in fact I know I was...we may have to consult a third party on that fact! ;)

We are getting ready to do a remodeling project in the house. So I am having my frustrated farmer helping out in preparing the way for that to happen. I have to keep him busy some how, since the fields are still too wet...soon though!

This monthe we celebrated a birthday (yes mine...no asking how old!), competed at MSU with Ag. Communication with the BACC (Katie), went to Prom (Katie), did a college visit (Katie and I), had some outings with friends (all of us), and had Easter Dinner here with seven extra mouths to feed...it was a fun month!

This month I will probably not see my husband much...because he will be in the fields or sleeping or not sleeping and in the fields. This is the first time he hasn't planted something in April. Last year he nearly has 3/4 of his corn planted by now. Can you see the frustration? But he is doing fine...he hasn't turned into the Grinch quite yet!?! He has a friend that went out and bought a 24 row planter in addition to his 16 row, to as Larry the Cable says, "Get ur Done," when it dries off.

Well as I sign off, we hope by this point at the end of the month to have all the planting done, the house project on the downhill slide, a 135,000 grain bin erected, and the new shop/office close to be completed.

Thanks to my followers...it is a beautiful day today, enjoy it!! :)

March Madness...

Well March has nearly come and gone...around here it came in like a lion with the running around we had to do to prepare for things to come. We started the month preparing appetizers for a "Taste of Italy" dinner that our women's ministries group had at the church. A good friend and I cut and chopped our way through most of a day to have appealing appetizers for just over 100 people. Doug stepped up and was the punch/drink guy, along with another friend. The next night we had a blast with an impromptu dinner with two close couples. The next week started out crazy...we got our pictures taken for the church directory, the guys headed to Chicago for a three day conference, and I delivered Erik's items (for display only) to the Oaklawn Benefit Auction. The theme this year was western...Erik let a gal that works on the program peruse his barn and she found lots of treasures to use for decoration. We wrapped up the week with Katie up at the FFA State Convention...her Ag Issue Group ended up with a Silver Award. Katie also got an Outstanding Junior Award. I met up with friends and finally saw my BFF Melissa. It was only for a brief time...but it is always good to make that connection. The steers were weighed in on Saturday the 12th. The kids again took on the responsibility in getting them down and weighed-in. They tried to be first...but Erik's good friends beat them. I think maybe he (Erik) should have bought some donuts then...right Avery? All that week I was prepping and preparing items for my freezer...making menus, stocking up items, for....... Our trip to Hawaii!!!! Doug and I went to Maui Hawaii for 10 days. What a wonderful time we had. I (the nervous traveller) did awesome, thanks to my prayer warriors! Even the 8 hour flight didn't even bother me. We saw some good movies to keep the time occupied. While there we...biked down a volcano, surfed, worked on our tan, visited the island of Lanai taking a boat over and back. While there we toured the island some, snorkeled and then we even ended up with a school/pod of dolphins that came near shore. They were just 10' below me in the water it was incredible!! We also, survived the road to Hana, and rode a helicopter back to the other side of the island, saw some incredible waterfalls, relaxed, walked over an hour every day, worked on our tan, saw a beached monk seal, (there are only 1100 left in the world), saw whales every time you looked out into the water in one direction or another, went to the Aquarium getting a view of the things in the water we didn't see, snorkeled by our hotel and saw sea turtles larger than a ring I can make with my hands, and saw a theatrical performance of Hawaii...oh yeah...and worked on my tan! :) We had a blast, the kids got along (for the most part), and we are back into the swing of things. While we were gone Erik went to the State FFA Alumni Convention that was held in Marshall and did an awesome job auctioning a few items they had for their live auction. We got a text from a friend saying he did great! We returned on my nephew Edwardo's birthday and the first of the month our niece Lena had a birthday too. Since we have been back the twins were in a play...they did an awesome job! Doug is breaking ground for his next new projects while getting ready for the planting season. Erik is preparing to have his wisdom teeth out next Monday...I will write in April how that goes. The first calf was born...actually two calves have been born but the first one we lost. Both were bulls...so...life is good...Katie is set for next year...hopefully she will have lots to choose from. So we are back, and on track for the planting season. I can't say that there haven't been days that I could jump on a plane and head right back there...something to look forward to in the future. That is all...that is my March briefing...or more like novel...may you enjoy your April showers and all they bring and also my friend...Be blessed! :)

February Fun...

Well, here we are nearly at the end of February...and what an interesting month it has been. Of course it is winter...so there are many meetings, conferences and outings to attend.

Since I last wrote we had our friends from the thumb area over for two days of catching up...had coffee with friends...(but is badly missing my friend Melissa...soon!!)...celebrated our 25th anniversary :)...attended our first ever pig show. Now this was fun...but sorry...as much as I like pigs and pork...the smell is something I can't get used to. Went to an awesome play with friends, "Meet me in St. Louis." We knew the boy who had the male lead he was super as was the girl who played the role you would have seen Judy Garland in years ago...the play and the night was a 10+!

We also have celebrated a ton of birthdays already...two nieces Amy (18) and Sara (22), sister-in-law Kim, my two brothers Gary (47) and Don (49), and my Dad (76) all celebrated since I last wrote. Happy Birthday to you all!

Another fun thing was Katie competed with her FFA Ag Issues team. They won districts, received 3rd at regionals...but found out calculations were incorrect so they are going on to State!! So, the first full week of March she will be competing at MSU at the State Convention! They are so professional when they do this skit...it is very fun to watch.

We also attended and assisted with a Pancake Breakfast for the Mini Whinnie's 4-H club Katie is involved with that was fun and the kids did quite well with the fund raiser.

Erik and Doug have done some snowmobiling around here and up north too. Erik is doing some wheeling and dealing on equipment (nothing new). He picked up some work with tree trimmers after the ice storm. This extra money will probably be put into his jeep he is building...he is very much looking forward to warm summer days having fun in his new toy.

Of course for any of you who read this from outside of the state...we had the "Big Storm of 2011" the first day of February followed by a warm up with nearly all the snow gone with a ice storm with power outages on February 21. We only lost power for 3 days...we were on of the lucky ones!

So I believe you are up to date...I've held true to the promise of writing once a month and all is good. So to all of you...be blessed dear friends!

May God bless you all! :)

A New Year...

Well here we are in 2011...Christmas decorations down...house pulled together and school has started back up. Looks like we are all set to move forward.

Doug and I were very fortunate to receive a free trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. While there we
did the Zip-line Canopy in the top of gum trees, swam with dolphins, were entertained by a bunch of different groups and I...drum roll please...got sick. Not just your common cold, no sniffles and a plugged head would have been way too easy, I got a stomach virus. Nothing stayed down and eating just turned my stomach. Pretty sad when you are at an all inclusive place where eating was endless and the varieties overwhelming. So coming home from a vacation worried that you might have gained a bunch of weight was not a concern of mine. I still am not 100% Cooking for the kids is interesting because different smells are not exactly comforting.

On an interesting note...you know when your on vacation and you dread having to go back to reality, and you would like maybe just one more day to enjoy all that you have...well when you aren't feeling good that is the last thing on your mind. And guess what...that is exactly what happened. We went down to check-in for flights for the next day and due to the weather passing through the southern states there were no flights leaving to Detroit. So we unpacked and soaked up the sun another day. Doug eating a full course and me sipping Sprite...yeah me!

So we are back...Doug is back in full swing...I am trying to fix the kids a nice supper and trying to eat enough to keep my strength up. This feeling could pass really quickly and never come back!!

The kids did great while we were gone. The house was super tidy and there was a single rose welcoming us home, they were both in one piece and speaking to each other...a success! :)

So you are officially up to date at the present time.

Be blessed and have a great day! :)

2010 Comes to a Close...

Hi all...so I am writing to express to my one...or maybe two blog readers...that I am planning to update at least once a month on the Myers Farms blog in 2011!! I know I got a bit lax and I apologize.

If you read back...the year has been good to us. Everyone has remained healthy...only a few ER trips by the parents. Siblings have come together for the common good...(butchering!) And we had a safe and bountiful harvest.

We have all stayed active in our church in one way or the other, by being involved with the Christmas program (thanks to all who came out this year), the regular choir, hanging of the greens, and/or the softball league.

Since I last posted...We lost our young lab Zoe (2 1/2). Unfortunately she followed some stray dogs out into the road. Shadow our 10 1/2 year old is still with us. She does have rough days...but still is able to go with me when I ride my horse around the field...at this point she prefers rides on the cart when Dexter my donkey is pulling it. She is a faithful friend!!

We started and ended our harvest in record time. We had minimum down time and the weather stayed nice. Our only problem was storage...we had too little...we are remedying that problem with a new grain bin being put up before next years harvest.

My sister-in-law Brenda had a birthday on October 24...but since I wasn't doing great posting then I apologize for missing that...hope it was a good one!! :)

In late October we went to see our twin nieces in a play at the Tibbits in Coldwater. They were fun ghosts and did great in their roles.

Christmas came and went with a flash...so I sent out New Year letters vs Christmas cards...I hope people enjoy them.

So that wraps this up...Happy New Year to you all...and wishing you all the best in 2011!

Update coming soon...

Just wanted everyone to know...I will updating soon...so when I get the background changed (which if anyone knows me and my abilities on this blog, means it could take a while), after church, I will post the year in review!! And I promise at least once a month updates in 2011!! I have a bit of baking to do today too. For some reason some people around here would like birthday cakes...

Happy birthday to Erik and Grandma Geese!!! :)

October - Birthday's abound!

Hi all...October has arrived along with many birthday celebrations. The month started out with my brother celebrating his big 50!! Wow...no wonder he has so many gray hairs with his sparse collection of hair remaining. I do hope he reads this so I hear the feedback. Happy Birthday Ken!

This week I had 5 days listed with birthday's...a friend I've known for years celebrating, someone celebrating his sweet 16, another newer friend celebrating her birthday the day after her son turns 18. But, most importantly, my husband will be celebrating his birthday on Friday. We have big plans for a scrumptious dinner that afternoon. He is very pleased that bean harvest is going so well. He has never had so many acres harvested at his birthday time. Last year he had hardly started the harvest.

This past Tuesday we attended the annual Calhoun County 4-H award banquet. Katie, as secretary of the council, ended up as MC because the president and vice president of the council were unable to attend. She was super nervous, but did a fine job with her speaking. The evening ended with Katie receiving the Senior Beef and Leadership award. She also received her 10 year 4-H pin and Erik received his 12 year. And, to end the night, she was awarded the "I Dare You" award! So a very good end to her 4-H year.

A lot of prep work for the birthday dinner being done today.

That is all for now...have a blessed day all!~

Fall 2010

So now that it is officially fall, according to the calendar, life is hopping here at Myers Farms. Since I last wrote...we have attended multiple meetings and corn days, changed doors on the house, helped a friend move items to Florida, attended birthday celebrations, had tea with 3 generations of cousins, hung out at a Hospital, pregnancy checked cows and started combining. We are combining just beans at this point with a little over 800 acres harvested at this time.

The kids are busy too. Erik is, as we like to call him, the Combine King! He is the main person driving the combine this year. He has harvested all but maybe 100 acres. That was because he had to work two auctions...and he sold some at one of them!! He is loving his hours working in the field along side his Dad.

Katie is super busy with life as a Jr. She has 6 classes she is working on this year in addition to going 4 days a week to the BACC. Church choir has started up and she is putting time in at the local republican office making calls for the upcoming election. On top of that she is now doing chores at G & G Geese's house to help out and is loving it. She even makes time to hang out with friends. Life is good!

So I'm off for a walk. Today, take the time to look around and see all that He has done in your life. Remember the people too He has put in your life, know they are there for a reason!

School begins...

Hi all...this is the first official day of school. It is a strange day with only Katie doing work and Erik just working with Doug on the farm. Katie is officially a Jr. this year. She will be attending her co-op classes in Jackson every Wednesday like usual. This year she will also be attending the Branch Area Career Center (BACC) every M,T,Th, & F. A change for sure. I know she is excited, but also a little nervous about this new adventure.

The next week will bring field days, golf outing and business meeting with all the seed companies wanting to push their product for next year.

I have a few more items I'd like to add to my freezer before the growing season is over...this should not be a problem.

Well have a good day all...be blessed!~

Fair 2010

Hi all...well we have been through the Calhoun County Fair and survived. I can't tell you what a relief it was without having a riding horse this year...truly a blessing. Yes we miss our Chip, but fair was so much nicer not having to deal with all the issues.

Katie showed a miniature horse named Sally and we had our two steers Earl and Frank. Earl ended up 3rd in his market class...and Frank further down the line. He had, as some would put it, a pot belly, so he wasn't as pretty as he could have been.

With Sally Katie won a pleasure driving class then ended up and Reserve Champion over all in pleasure driving. She also won a trail class as well. Later in the week she won a showmanship class in open class. She placed well in nearly everything she entered. Little Miss. Sally was such a sweetie...but by the end of the week I think she was ready to go home. We have to thank Lori so much for allowing us to have our time with Sally this year. Oh...Katie also won the best of class with her notebook for her mini as well.

The kids sold their animals at the auction on Friday. Katie got a nice price...and Erik got a surprise. He got to sell his own animal this year at the fair. He got an awesome price, some good experience, and job offers. So overall a great day. Erik ended the year, as a 4-H kid selling his animal at the fair, auctioning during the auction and he ran the non-livestock auction sale, and as a buyer at the 2010 Fair. Next year will be his final year in 4-H, so that will be a total 13 years in 4-H.

New experiences happen at the fair this year too. Erik and some friends had pick-up trucks and they entered them in pick-up truck hockey (this is done by pushing a large tire through the end of a makeshift rink using cement pylons). Also he was in the demolition derby during half-time of the regular demo derby show. Those boys truly had a blast!!! His truck has now gone on to bigger and better places...the scrap yard! :)

Ok...I'm sure you are all dying to know how the Combine Demo Derby turned out. Well...the Queen Bee won her heat and made it into the finals again. The driver didn't do much after that. We ended up 5th out of 5 in the final heat with some bumps and bruises to match. Erik, having entered his first Derby won his heat too. He went into the final with all the other combines wanting to take him out. He ended up 3rd overall, so a good showing for his first time out.

We are now gearing up for school to start and harvest. Emptying the remainder of corn in bins, trying to get away for a few days, and living life. Oh...the Battle Creek Enquirer did write an article about Erik and his combines...if you go to their website and put in the date, August 20 you can read the article.

Well you are officially updated...have a great remainder of August, and as always...be blessed!~

The Dog Days of Summer

Hi all...sorry I have been so neglectful toward this blog. So...we had the open house, and aside from my my near panic attack in wondering who, if anyone will be coming...it went very smooth. We did run out of cake, forks, plates, and the root beer keg was dry before the end of the party. So a run to town for more cake, plates and utensils. Overall the final count was 235 people served! A good time was had by all...and family and friends from all over came to wish Erik great success for his future.

So...since that time...Dexter is home from Topeka, IN. He is now officially cart broke. This was done by Mr. Henry Mast a young Amish boy near there...Dexter was his first project. Overall a good job. While there we got a cart and harness. We also learned about how the Amish in the area raise trophy bucks for organized hunts in different areas.

In the last few weeks we have been to a movie, thrown a baby shower, went to a wedding, played softball every Thursday and made up games the last two Tuesday's, went to a pampered chef party, went to South Haven for blueberries and to meet friends. Also, in the last two weeks we, Doug and I have over 140 hours each standing by with the fire trucks with the oil spill that happened in Marshall. Oh...yeah...picked 2 1/2 bu. peaches, and still are waiting on a few to get ready to put them up. Lastly...I took the day yesterday with friends and just floated in my pool. Wow that is a lot of stuff in a few weeks huh! :)

I have had a request from my brother to put pictures up from the open house on my blog. I know my friend B is a bit busy this week and next...but it will happen...right B? :)

So we are in the home stretch for our fair which is next week. Going from our house are two steers, Katie is also taking a mini whinnie...which is a miniature horse a friend has offered her to show for 4-H. Other non animal items are a demo derby pick-up truck and possibly up to 4 maybe 5 demo derby combines. Fun times. Come on over to the Calhoun County Fair on Thursday evening to see the fun and action of the Derby...you will see me again in the Queen Bee adorned with the crown.

Well take care all and be blessed!! ~ :)

The Big Event...coming soon!

Well here we are three days from the graduation open house. Concrete work, done. Landscaping, I think needs more annuals for color...but at this point, done. Railing, done. Am I still feeling overwhelmed, done! :) There is just shopping to be done and food to be cooked...but it will happen, it always does. But to potentially have nearly 200 people and making sure they get plenty to eat is just frazzling my nerves just a tinge.

Katie left this morning for an event with our youth group. She is doing "Survivor." Yes, she and about 12 other kids and a few adult leaders have taken to the backwoods and roughing it till Saturday morning. Funny thing is...they are roughing it in our woods about 1/2 mile from the house. So, about 9 am the day of the big event, I will be getting back a child who potentially will be cranky, smelly, mosquito bitten and probably pretty whiny. She has already been warned where to deposit her goods, and to shower and vegetate for a while by herself, until she gets herself pulled together. So I guess wish me luck with that one.

A sad note...my brother and sister-in-law Don and Sue will be unable to be here for the open house, because of some jobs he is finishing up. Good news is they will be here the early part of August and we can sit and catch up then.

Ok...enough from me...after being away for so long...I should keep this short so I can keep plugging away. I would post some pictures of the changes...but I think most of those who read my blog will be here. Also, I am not sure how to do it because I haven't been to the picture posting blog class with "B" yet. Maybe we will post party pictures here?!?! :)

Have an awesome day all...and as always...be blessed! :)
